evil) If no one tells you that you cant do something then you will do evil things. If there is nothing to tell you that you cant do that you will do it. until you know what it is like to not know if today is your last day you will not understand how evil you can be or act. To wonder if when you close your eye you will not wake up because you ahve not had anything to eat and drink for so long. Until you have looked death in the eye you will never understand how horrible of a person you can be. Jack would stop at nothing to get what he wanted he wanted to be a king of the kids. To be at the top of eeveryone and because no one could stopp him thats what he did. People like to think they are not evil but they will never know until they are forced to pick between evil or death.

Symbols) The shell showed power and control over others. It gave a way to command people to come to you and a way of government. It showed who would talk and at what time. It was their form of government. Once it was broken there was no hope that they could revert back to their government. they became savages who was ruled only by one person and everyone else was under him. The glasses represented protection from the monster and the wild animals because they could make fire with them. They gave people a hope that people would come an save them from the island. It gave them a way to cook meat so that they could eat it. Once the glasses were stolen the power of fine was taken away. Destroying any hope of being rescued having cooked food and being protected.

2) I think that it does not matter what so ever what kind of leadership they had. Ralph and Jack are by no means good leader or the ones that should have been picked to lead but with the situation they were in it was quite irrelevant. Think about it how hard would it be to get a bunch of little kids and older kids to work as a group when they are already socially divided into like first and second class citizens. The olders kids don't respect the little kids and call them littlun. Its hard to get kids to go to sleep much less get them to understand that they have to work and not built forts all day to survive. The never ending idea that a monster is out there to get them even adds to the already broken grasp a leader would have over these kids.

3) If Nokomis has no teachers nothing good would come of it. There are a lot more kids in Nokomis than there was on the island and of older age. even with teachers around a lot of kids don't do what they are told. If they wont listen to adults there is no way they would listen to a leader that is just a kid. There would be no form of punishment like detentions if there was no teachers. There might be some rules but they would not follow them if there was no punishment for breaking them. The kids would start out beating each other up and stealing food and slowly it would get to the point were people would die. They would drive their truck and four wheelers all over the lawn and and would destroy most if not all of the school in a few days. When the teachers came back they would be in amazement of how fast people can become savages without a form of government and punishment.
